For the better part of Tuesday, city crews hosed down the square paving the way for staff to continue decorating trees. On Saturday, thousands are expected to attend Centennial Square for the 4th Annual Centennial Square Christmas Tree Light Up. The recent changes are being welcomed by nearby business owners. "We've seen business drop by about 20 per cent," says Brenda Stengel, the owner of Satin Moon Quilt Shop. Other businesses believe people were avoiding the downtown because of the protest. Downtown reaction to the protestor's departure was mixed Tuesday. While some sided with the Occupy movement, others say the downtown is better off without it. The Downtown Victoria Business Association is carrying through with all of its holiday plans including an outdoor skating rink. Its opening, however, has been delayed one week due to the protest.
