All DONATIONS TO BE MADE TO "JASMINE LYNN FUNDRAISER TRIBUTE" (WACHOVIA BANK) On September 3rd, 2009, Jasmine Lynn, a talented and bright 19-year-old African American college student, was struck and killed by a stray bullet on the campus of Clark Atlanta University. Police said Jasmine Lynn, of Kansas City, Mo., was struck in the chest when shots were fired during a fight nearby. In addition to being an honor roll student with a 3.8 GPA, she was an aspiring entrepreneur and business woman. First in her family to attend college, Jasmine had reached out to Michelle Obama, Oprah, and Ellen for guidance in being the best she could be. The Jasmine Lynn Nonviolence Tribute Fundraiser was created in memory Jasmine Lynn and in efforts to bring light and attention to the violence amongst the youth in our community. Spearheaded by singer/songwriter and Queen of Welcome to Dreamland Leaf,members of the artistic community have taken action to promote non-violence and establish a call to action within our community to protect our youth. Funds raised will support three non-profit initiatives who currently lobby against violence by providing outlets for our youth to express their energy. Set to take place on December 9th, 2009, this tribute fundraiser is an effort to bring our community together in promoting peace, love and unity against all odds. Please join us in commemorating this young ladys memory as a testament and cry for non-violence! |
