Elton John - Red Piano Tour, Las Vegas (circa 2008) - Candle in the Wind (Goodbye Norma Jean) Elton John sings his 1973 song "Candle in the Wind" (Goodbye Norma Jean) honoring Marilyn Monroe, who had died eleven years earlier. John and Ben Taupin co-write the music and the lyrics of "Candle in the Wind." The original version in the key of E major appeared on John's 1973 album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. The lyrics of the song are a sympathetic portrayal of the life of Marilyn Monroe (the song's opening line "Goodbye Norma Jean" refers to Monroe's real name). The single release of the original song reached No. 11 in the UK charts in 1974. At the time, it was not released as a single in the United States ("Bennie and the Jets" was chosen instead). Taupin was inspired to write the song after hearing the phrase "candle in the wind" used in tribute to Janis Joplin. The Red Piano Tour was a concert tour by English singer/songwriter Sir Elton John. The tour originated at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The idea for the show originated in 2004 by Elton John and David LaChapelle. The Red Piano tour was originally scheduled to be 75 shows over three years. However, John ended his residency at the Colosseum on 22 April 2009, thus the tour encompassed six years. Marilyn Monroe - Something's Got to Give (1962) - Makeup & Costume Tests (McGuire Sisters vocal) Something's Got to Give is an unfinished 1962 American feature film, directed by George Cukor and starring Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin and Cyd Charisse. A remake of My Favorite Wife (1940), a screwball comedy starring Cary Grant and Irene Dunne, it was Monroe's last work; from the beginning its production was disrupted by her personal troubles, and after her death on August 5, 1962 the film was abandoned. Most of its completed footage remained unseen for many years. After spending much of her childhood in foster homes, Monroe began a career as a model, which led to a film contract in 1946 with 20th Century Fox. Her early film appearances were minor, but her performances in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve (both 1950) drew attention to her—by now her hair was dyed blonde. By 1953, Monroe had progressed to a leading role in Niagara (1953), a melodramatic film noir that dwelled on her seductiveness. Her "dumb blonde" persona was used to comic effect in subsequent films such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) and The Seven Year Itch (1955). Limited by ...

An original tribute to Norma Jean, and all the delight she brought to us. A song we wrote to celebrate our beloved Sex Goddess. Music by Michael Crueger; Lyrics by Joy Crueger Lyrics: Twinkle, twinkle, Norma Jean, just give us your All and everything, Twinkle, twinkle, You Sexy Star, we never really asked just who you are, Twinkle, twinkle, Miss Monroe, we all loved someone even you didn't know Twinkle, twinkle, Marilyn Monroe, the world loved someone even you didn't know 1. We just loved the way, you wear those high heel shoes, The wiggle in your walk, the giggle in your talk and the music in your moves, - You wear your heart, for all to see, and the sun shines from your hair, Your breasts could feed the nation, and you wore no underwear, -You took us all in those open arms, in such a passionate embrace, And let us feel your breathless soul, beneath the lovely face, CHORUS: Twinkle, twinkle, Norma Jean, just give us your All....... 2. We loved the child inside your eyes, and the boldness of your smile, The sweet Good Girl, who could be so Bad, but always with Great Style, - How could we help but love you, the flower of our desire, Like the moments delight, in the butterfly's flight, Or a moth flying straight to the fire. - We dreamed you into this Goddess Myth, and all our dreams came true, You shine forever in our hearts, Just for being You, Twinkle Twinkle Norma Jean, you gave us your All and everything
