At the safe house, a devastated Roman and Shane fear John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Rafe and Carrie have all perished in the explosion. To their immense relief, everyone emerges from the wreckage unharmed! The survivors explain that at the last minute, they found a trap door in the house and were able to shield themselves from the blast. Everyone realizes they can now use this situation to their advantage. Since Stefano will believe his adversaries are dead, they can quietly work underground to bring him down once and for all. However, in order for the ruse to work, they must let everyone think they are dead. No one can know they are alive. As mayor, EJ arrives at the site of the explosion, and Roman warns him that Stefano will pay for this. Though knowing he is no longer Stefano's biological son, EJ defends his "father." He then leaves to attend to a mysterious task. Meanwhile, Shane heads off to tell family and friends about the explosion while Roman stays behind to help get the six 'dead' people into hiding. Shane gathers Kayla, Sami, Lucas, Will, Austin and Billie at the pub. He regretfully informs them about Stefano's threats, the move to the safe house and the exploding bomb. Everyone is horrified and fearful for their loved ones. Then Roman arrives and delivers the devastating lie - there were no survivors. Days of our Lives 5-7-2012 |

The six people trapped in the safe house - Bo, John, Marlena, Hope, Rafe and Carrie - realize with dread that the efforts to disarm the bomb were futile. Shane realizes the bomb was set so it couldn't be disarmed by conventional means. They're all desperate for a Plan B and Shane walks them through a series of alternate methods for disarming the bomb, each with increasingly less chance of actually working. Soon they realize they've exhausted their alternatives and are facing certain death as the clock continues its countdown. Bo and Hope, John and Marlena, and finally Rafe and Carrie are drawn to each other, needing to express how much they love each other. Carrie, still hurt by what Rafe did with Nicole, gets a surprise when he realizes he can't keep the truth from her - not anymore - and tells her the baby is EJ's! Carrie realizes he never wavered in his love for her, and they come together in an incredible kiss ... which is broken when it's time to prepare for the worst. They build a "blast wall" using every scrap of furniture they can, knowing it'll likely be futile. The countdown continues and they ready themselves as best they can. Roman arrives and at first they have no way to warn him away from the front door until Hope thinks fast and writes out a note that alerts him to the danger. Quickly getting a sense of things, he manages to establish communication via radio and says he's rushing off to get the help they need to disarm this thing. And when he comes back, he brings hope in the form of a familiar face - Shane Donovan! Shane expertly guides them through taking the bomb apart, piece by piece.
