Plot: In 1974, Eddie Dunford (Andrew Garfield), a young reporter from the Yorkshire Post, tries to find information on a series of missing girls. Meanwhile, John Dawson (Sean Bean), a local businessman, bribes members of the West Yorkshire Constabulary (WYC) and councillors into letting him purchase local land and gain permission for a mall he has planned. This is done by burning down a Roma camp previously existing in the area. One of the murdered girls is found on Dawson's land, having been tortured, raped, and strangled, with swan wings stitched into her back. Young, cocky and naive, Dunford conducts his investigation up to a dangerous stage. After the death of his friend Barry Gannon (Anthony Flanagan), he meets an elusive male prostitute, BJ (Robert Sheehan), who passes along incriminating materials Barry had gathered about local authority figures. Dunford becomes involved with the mother of one of the missing girls, Paula Garland (Rebecca Hall). He then learns that she has a secret sexual relationship with Dawson: she tells Dunford that she and Dawson have known each other all their lives. Dunford ignores threats from corrupt WYC officers to keep away from Paula and Dawson's institutionalized wife. However, he continues his investigation until he is ultimately arrested after storming into a private party at Dawson's house. Paula is also abducted and murdered. The Lord God spoke to Rebecca upon the wrestling of the twins Esau and Jacob. The Promise to Abraham flows to Isaac and the Lord said "Two nations are in thy womb." These words start a phrase of these nations and the destiny of both. Destiny rises in the hand of the Lord upon the chosen nations and it is these two nations, Esau who will be known as Edom and Jacob, out of whom the promise will flow 12 nations and the nation called Israel. Isaac the promise son, the promise given, and the covenant of promise. Isaac from whom the hope to inherit the Land and live in it, becoming a nation of peoples that literally could not be numbered. This is the promise given to Isaac and even today, it is being fulfilled. Isaac and Rebecca Torah reading: Gen 25:19-28:9 1 Sam 20:18-42 Esau, the hairy one and Jacob, the heel holder. Thus the twins of Isaac and Rebecca begin their struggle in the womb. Isaac watches as the two sons continue this opposite force of contradiction. The one Esau is representative of sensual vigor and wildness, this is Esau. While Jacob the heel holder represents one who holds the heel, to outwit, as in wrestling in an attempt to throw the opponent by grasping his heel. Jacob the supplanter and one whom God will see his promise flow through, even if Jacob needs to be taught. Both become great and mighty in the nations, yet through Isaac and Rebecca only one had the promise to bring in the House of Jacob, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. That one was Jacob. Public budgets remain under huge pressure at a time when ministers are keen to encourage Big Society initiatives in everything from social care to the arts. But the flow of private money to charities is still more of a trickle than a flood. Following on from the Giving White Paper (May 2011) and the Philanthropy Review published June 2011, this event will explore in great depth how to reach the goal of substantially increasing giving in the UK by exploring the important themes going forward in this policy area. It is a topic that goes to the heart of much of what the coalition is trying to achieve and it is an area that is ripe for crucial innovation.
